"And There Was No Longer Any Sea"

Revelation 21 is a beautiful chapter filled with incredible images of a new heaven, earth, and Jerusalem. However, for many years I have struggled with a simple fragment of verse 1- “and there was no longer any sea.” The events of last week made me think of this verse. Tsunami victims in south Asia can look forward to a day when the sea will be no more, when their pain, suffering, mourning, crying, and death will indeed be no more. They can have hope that a future exists where they can drink from the pur water of life freely. As they are without family now, they can look forward to the day when God will be there Father, and they will be his son or daughter.
